So far, so good!
Day one started off with leaving "Towne" MINI and ended up to be somewhat of a uneventful day unless you consider construction areas limiting your speed to 55mph, although I seemed to be the only one adhering to the posted speed limits (just don't want to get a Motoring Certificate this early in the adventure.). Which kind of brings me to the question, are speed limits just a "guide" or "suggestion?"
Cripes, I had more large SUVs and pickup trucks crawling up the poor Gnat's ass than I have experienced in awhile. Where the heck are the Troopers? Yeah right, when I neglect the speed limit for a instant or speed up to get the hell out of the way of the aforementioned "monster vehicles", that's when our LE buddies show up. Just can't win (no, I didn't' get a ticket!!!!)
Actually, the excitement started with hooking up with my Canadian friends from the London ON area who are staying at the same hotel tonight and already I am deviating from my travel plan to Atlanta... going to the infamous Tail of the Dragon tomorrow to partake in the Holy Grail of MINI motoring... approximately an 11 mile road with 200 plus twists and turns to make anyone a white knuckled driver. Speed limit is 35mph and for good reason as there are many curves without guard rails and a very long drop. Hmmm, maybe I should re-evaluate this decision.
Either way, the video ought to be entertaining!
